Jerry Gant, a loving husband, Daddy, Papaw, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026 at the age of 75.Jerry was born on February 23, 1951 to the late Pete and Helen Jones Gant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads, gardening, and camping. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and all of his family.
Jerry worked 30 plus years at Kimberly-Clark in Corinth, where he met his sweetheart, Brenda “Darby”. They married on October 10, 1998 and shared many wonderful years together.
He was known and loved for his personality. He was a good friend and had a special gift for giving everyone a nickname. Jerry loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was always the life of the party. Most of all, he was a loving husband, Daddy and Papaw. His grandchildren were truly the apple of his eye; he cherished every moment spent with them. Jerry’s love, laughter, friendship, and personality will be deeply missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Brenda “Darby”; children, Stacy Houston Mathis (Bryan), Jeff Houston (Mindy), and Mike Seago (Whitney); grandchildren, Bo “Johnny Bravo” Blakney (Emily), Lacy “Lulu” Blakney (Kayla), Brayden “Sassy Boy” Houston, Reagan “WG” Houston, Alexandria “Ali Ruth” Houston, Samuel “Hayboy” Houston, and Ky Seago; sister, Rheedia Gant Downs (Gerald); sister-in-laws, Mary Bennett, Ann Shea, Judy Long (Lowell), and Melissa Jones (Dale); brother-in-law, Mikey Shea (Sharon); and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David Gant & Lawrence Gant; sister, Betty Gant Harp; nephews, Jerry Lee Downs, David “Pancho” Daniel Gant; In-laws, Mike and Mittie Shea; brother-in-laws, Bobby Harp, William Shea, Danny Shea, and Travis Shea; and sister-in-laws, Brenda Louise Shea, Brenda Gail Shea and Janie Richardson.
Jerry leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless friendships and a family who loved him dearly.
The family would like to give out a huge thank you to all the doctors and nurses of the 4th floor at Magnolia Regional Health Center and Mississippi Care Center, Hall 400. Special thank you to Dr. Volansky, Dr. Long, Brad Calton, and all Jerry’s friends at John Marsh Cafe.
