Jerry Ellis McMeans, 67, of Decatur passed away on October 6, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 10, 1946, in Limestone County. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Army National Guard in Decatur.
Visitation will be held today, October 8, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Upshaw community, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Brother Donnie Carroll and Brother David Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sue Andrews McMeans; son, Jamie McMeans; brother, Danny McMeans and his wife, Mary Jo; sister, JoAnn Hogan; granddaughter, Ansley McMeans; mother-in-law, Dorthy Andrews; sisters-in- law, Diane Wilkins and her husband, Ronnie, and Jan Crittenden and her husband, Kelly; brother- in-law, Jamie Andrews; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. McMeans and Roma Burzett McMeans; sisters, Patsy Holt, Mavis Phillips and Peggy Holt; and brothers, Doug McMeans and James Curtis McMeans.
