Jerry E. Pounders, 75, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Bexar, AL and was a truck driver. He was an avid bluegrass musician and singer, which he especially enjoyed after his retirement. Jerry was a member of Banner Church of God of Prophecy.

Services will be Sunday, February 6, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Jeff Brooks, Bro. Craig Wilbanks and Bro. David Gould officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Golden, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years – Lenneth Pounders; a daughter – Amy Pounders; two sons – Jeff Pounders (Pam) and Jerome Pounders, all of Golden, MS; five sisters – Carol Grimm (Bill), Elaine Harrington (Kelly) Warren, Ohio, Janice Kennedy (James) Golden, MS., Lynn Boyett (Gary) Amory, MS and Martha Myers (Roy) Geneva, Ohio; two granddaughters – Madison Pounders and Morgan Gober; five grandsons – LeRay Harris, Chad Pounders, Lawson Pounders, A.J. Ewing and Alex Ewing; three great-granddaughters – Araya Pounders, Marissa Ewing and Lilly Ewing and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erastus and Martha Marie Pate Pounders and a sister, Sandra Hatchett.

Pallbearers will be Madison Pounders, LeRay Harris, Chad Pounders, Lawson Pounders, Rodney Kennedy, Donald Ray, Lane Denard and Kelly McCarley.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 6, 1-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
