It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Dean Haney, age 68, of Grant, Alabama, who passed away on November 4, 2026.

Born and raised in New Hope, Alabama, Jerry was a simple man who found happiness in the things that mattered most. He was witty, caring, sharp-minded, and someone who could always be counted on. He dedicated 31 years of his life to the Madison County Board of Education, where he spent many years working hard and providing for his family. Jerry enjoyed many things in life, especially cars, working on just about anything he could get his hands on, and keeping his grass cut. He was happiest sitting on his porch, watching the cows in the pasture, enjoying the quiet country life he loved so much. Above all else, Jerry loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He never let his family go without and never missed an opportunity to spoil his grandkids whenever he saw them. Whether it was spending time with the people he loved, enjoying a good Hardee’s biscuit and gravy, or simply sitting outside watching the day go by, Jerry knew how to appreciate life’s simple pleasures. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, laughter, and love that will continue to live on through the people who knew him best. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the little things that made him who he was will never be forgotten.

Jerry is survived by his children, Matt Haney (Auburn Haney) and Sabrina Songlenski Haney, and his beloved grandchildren, Grant Haney, Colbie Jean Haney, Larson Haney, and Devin Beasley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann Haney and Virgil Johnson, and his spouse, Kim Hodges.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that the memories he made, the family he loved, and the life he lived will forever remain a part of us. He will be missed more than words can express.

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday at 1:00 pm with Bro. Jamey Pruett officiating.

Interment will be in Moon Cemetery.
