Jerry “Booie” Chambers, 92, a lifelong resident of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026.
Born on January 15, 1934, to Gerald and Jonnie Chambers, Booie was raised in Gadsden and called it home for nearly his entire life. He served his country in the United States Air Force as Military Police, receiving an honorable discharge in 1960. After his military service, he worked at LTV Steel until his retirement. Booie was a devoted deacon and longtime member of Dwight Baptist Church.
Booie was preceded in death by his wife, Arris Heflin Chambers; his parents, Gerald and Jonnie Chambers; two brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by Jackie Ryan; Harley “Chip” Ryan and his wife Sheila; Harley Ryan III; Todd Ryan and his wife Lisa; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory. The family extends heartfelt thanks to his caregiver, Kim Woods, and the staff of Cherry Creek Village for the care they provided.
Graveside services will be held at Forrest Cemetery on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 10AM. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Family is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Dwight Baptist Church.
