Jerry A. Mathis – Obituary

Jerry A. Mathis, resident of the Ripley Community, radio broadcasting engineer and former resident of Tupelo, departed this life Wednesday March 21, 2018 at Diversicare Health Care Center in Ripley. He was 65 years of age and died following and extended illness.
Graveside Services honoring the life of Jerry will be at 1 PM Friday March 30 at The Ripley Cemetery. The officiating minister will be Bro. Doc Shelton and special remarks will be given by his friends in the broadcasting industry.Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Born December 2, 1952 in Tennessee, Mr. Mathis moved to Savannah where he was a 1970 graduate of The Harbert Hills Academy that is affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist faith.
In earlier years, he moved to Tupelo and was a valued employee of the iheartradio where he worked as a broadcast engineer for much of his life. He will be remembered by many for his keen intellect and his vast knowledge of  radio technology. Mr. Mathis made many friends throughout his career and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Visitation for family and friends will be in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home one hour before services.

Mr. Mathis leaves no immediate survivors. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be friends from the radio broadcasting industry. A special thanks to those associated with Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo and to the loving care of those at Diversicare Health Care Center in Ripley. Memorials are requested to either of these facilities.
