Visitation will be on Saturday, September 12th from 2 to 3 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will
follow visitation, at 3 pm. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.
Jeremy is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Smith. He is also survived by his mother, Debby Smith; his sisters, Andrea Robertson (Tim) and Kristen Chandler (Alan); his brothers, Nathan Smith (Nicole) and Kyle Smith (Emily); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and a best friend, Jimmy Collins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Smith; a sister, Amy Hull; brother-in-law, Rich Hull, and his grandparents, Clay and
Delores Smith, and Walt and Lois Ulrich.
Jeremy was born on February 21, 1976, in Titusville, Florida. He grew up in Florida and Alabama. When he was 4 years old, he was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. His kidneys were removed, dialysis was started, and a few months later he had his first kidney transplant, receiving one of his father’s kidneys. About 6 years
later, he had his second kidney transplant after several months of dialysis. His final transplant was in 2002, when he received a kidney from his older sister, Amy. In all, he spent about 12 years of his life on dialysis, a life-sustaining blessing in between transplants. His life was full of treatments, procedures, surgeries, and medications, but he remained so positive and made the best of the challenges he faced.
After years of hard work, leadership, and community service in Boy Scouts, he achieved the prestigious rank of an Eagle Scout. He
graduated from Austin High School in 1994. He later earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Human Resources from Athens State University. He met the love of his life, Crystal, in 2010, and they were married for time and all eternity on October 8, 2011, in the LDS Birmingham Temple. The way they loved and cared for each other was incredible.
He was a favorite and beloved uncle and cousin, the family’s computer genius and expert gamer, a diehard Alabama fan, and quite a jokester. He would be in pain and still try to make others laugh with his jokes and silly comments.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a testimony that this life was worth it, no matter what he suffered. He knew he would be made whole one day. While that time came earlier than hoped for, the family knows he is at peace and enjoying being completely healthy.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Smith, Kyle Smith, Shane Smith, Jimmy Collins, Nick Hull, Ryan Robertson, Hunter
Smith, Jason Chandler, and Ethan Robertson.
