Jemes L. “Doodle” Sellers, age 91, died December 4, 2017, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was retired from Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. He graduated in May 1944 from Riverside High School in Decatur and immediately left for the U.S. Navy. He served in the South Pacific and in the invasion of Okinawa. He was on a ship that a Japanese suicide bomber crashed into. In Japan he observed the devastation of Hiroshima.
