Funeral service for Jeflyn Landers Baggs, 96, of Decatur, will be Monday. April 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Decatur First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Boling officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive visitors one hour before beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Baggs was born on December 24, 1928, to Evelyn Ford Landers and Wilvin Jeff Landers on a farm between Hartselle and Danville, Alabama, before moving to Decatur where she graduated from Riverside High School in 1947. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur and the Seekers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Thomas Baggs and her son Stephen Ellis Baggs.
Jeflyn is survived by two sons, Mark Baynard Baggs (Kedra) of Daphne; and Jonathan Ford Baggs (Stephania) of Decatur; and daughter-in-law Mary Gail Rowe Baggs (Steve) of Decatur; Six grandchildren, Elizabeth Caputo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Rowe Baggs of Birmingham; Sarah Garner of Decatur; William Ford Baggs of San Francisco; and Juliana Baynard Baggs and Mark Baynard Baggs Jr., of Daphne; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline Baggs and Charlotte Baggs of Birmingham, and Virginia Garner and Theodore Garner of Decatur.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or First United Methodist Church.
