Jeffrey Lynn Cawthorn age 59 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning, September 7, 2026 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1966 to his parents, Joe Cawthorn and Maudine Dabbs Neal. Jeff worked in law enforcement and investigations for 30 years and the last 6 years he owned and operated the Lipstick Pig BBQ. He was a member of the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church and a First-Degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Jenia Cawthorn of Smithville; children, Megan Stewart (Mark Winfree), Leagh (Jacob) Lawrence, Courtney (Jacob) Turner, Alex (Arissa) Poss and Alison Poss all of Smithville; grandchildren, Jacob Stewart, Carlee West, Jackson Allred and Brooklyn Lawrence; mother, Maudine Neal of Smithville; sister, Debra Neal of Woodbury. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, September 11, 2026 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Phillip Hawkins and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
