The funeral service for Jeffrey L. Jones, age 61 of Bluff Springs, will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ashland with Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatchet Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Jones passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Grandview Medical Center. He was born in Talladega but was a life-long resident of Clay County. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Bibb Graves High School and Ayers Technical College. He worked as a millwright and supervisor for Georgia Pacific and retired with over 23 years of service. Mr. Jones enjoyed fishing and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashland.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wanda Jett Jones of Bluff Springs; daughter, Valarie Hamilton of Sylacauga; two step-sons: Brian Farrow of Cragford and Joshua Farrow (Lindsey) of Bluff Springs; his father, James E. Jones of Coleta Valley; three brothers: Ray Jones of Roanoke, Taft Jones (Penny) of Ashland and Richard Jones (Sarah) of Coleta Valley and four grandchildren: Katherine Hamilton, Sarah Hamilton, Corbin Farrow and Emily Farrow.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Jones.
Pallbearers will be Ray Jones, Taft Jones, Richard Jones, Brian Farrow, Joshua Farrow and Gary Poe.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Mr. Jones will lie in state at the church on Friday from 12:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
