Jeanne Lanier Broadfoot – Obituary

jeanneJeanne Lanier Broadfoot, 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2015. She was born on December 9, 1925 to Oscar Eugene and Carrie Scott Lanier. She grew up with two older sisters and an older brother who died at eighteen months and a younger sister.

She graduated from Albertville High School where she was a member of the band. At the age of eighteen she left home to attend the University Of Alabama School Of Nursing. Following graduation she worked a few years in Memphis, TN. She then entered the University Of Alabama School Of Anesthesia where she earned her license. She was employed forty-five years at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

On June 4, 1965 she married William B. Broadfoot and together raised four daughters. Jeanne and (Sonny) would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Mrs. Broadfoot was preceded in death by her loving husband William B. Broadfoot; daughter, Barbara B. Wood; grandson, Jake A. Wood, her parents; her brother Oscar Eugene Jr. and two sisters Mary McCallister and Annelle Robertson.

Mrs. Broadfoot is survived by her daughters: Janet B. Wood (Kevin) and Joan B. Lee (Chris) both of Florence and Donna B. Lough(Bob) of Dallas, TX. She leaves six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Patsi Martin of Olive Branch, MS, and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating and Brother Larry Wright assisting. The family will receive friends from 11 – 1. Mrs. Broadfoot was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Florence. Interment to follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Daugherty, Dr. Patel, Dr. Hagler, Dr. Clark, Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Pam Hill, her hospice nurses and Helping Hands for their loving care and support of the family. A special thank you to her loving niece Jimmie Ann Holcomb.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, The First Baptist church of Florence or your favorite charity.
