Jeanine Marie Rodgers Paul, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at her residence. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Spring Avenue Church of Nazarene with Pastor John Branch officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church.
Mrs. Paul was born in Boone, Iowa on June 23, 1939 to William Burdette Rodgers and Maude Marie Murdock. She was a housekeeper by trade in the custodial industry.
She was a member of Spring Avenue Church of Nazarene. As a faithful woman of God, when she wasn’t physically able to attend church, she watched the church services by video. Some of her favorite hobbies included her love for crocheting, fishing, gardening, reading, word search puzzles, garage and yard sales, and long scenic drives. Her annual Spoon River Drive in Illinois every Fall was her most favorite trip.
Mrs. Paul’s greatest joy and source of pride, however, was her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister and friend. Jeanine’s kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Although we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loved ones in the embrace of eternal peace.
Mrs. Paul was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earnest Paul; step-son, Mikeal Paul; one granddaughter, Vanessa Klein; one infant great-granddaughter, Suvi Trevizo; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by the father of her children, Stanley Smith; four children, Jennie Paul; Steve (Alice) Smith; Sharon (Bruce) Havlat; and Gary Smith (Karen Lowe); two step-children, Kristi (Dave) Tarpein; and Joe Randall Paul; sister, Naomi Clark; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and her fur-baby, Spencer.
Mrs. Paul’s family will serve as Pallbearers.
