Jeanette Macy Cawthon was born on January 26, 1942, in Paxton, Florida, to Henry and Josephine Alford King. She was a young wife and mother when offered a career at the Chemstrand Corporation Nylon Plant near Pensacola, Florida, where she faithfully spent the next 25+ years. Jeanette made many friends at Chemstrand, which later became Monsanto, and she provided well for her family. She raised her children in the rural Molino area as she worked rotating shifts her entire career eventually moving to Pensacola after her children were grown.
Jeanette absolutely loved Pensacola Beach and spent many of her off days there with her children, her sisters and friends. She also enjoyed fresh water fishing and traveling, taking trips to the Great Smoky Mountains, Alaska, and the Bahamas.
Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, T.J. Cawthon, two children in infancy, a young daughter Kathaleen, her mother, Josephine King, and her sister, Mary Dupre.
Jeanette’s surviving family includes her son, Doug Cawthon, son, Jeff Cawthon, and daughter, Sandra Gray. Jeanette leaves behind four grandchildren, Rebekah Kelly, Eli Cawthon, Sarah (Rashad) Miller, and Malcom Gray. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren. Jeanette is survived by two of her three sisters and best friends, Juanita Ayers and Louise Bass-Williams, and a great many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette moved to Alabama to be near family in 2018 and died peacefully on December 20, 2022, at Lineville Health and Rehab, Lineville, Alabama.
There will be no formal services. As per her wishes, Jeanette’s family will scatter her ashes at Pensacola Beach.
