Jean Phillips Cannon – Obituary

Graveside service for Jean Phillips Cannon, age 87, of Decatur, will be Saturday, December 29, 2018, 12:00 Noon, at Phillips Memorial Cemetery, Fayette, AL with Bro. Fred Bueto officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cannon, who died Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital’s Parkway Campus was born September 17, 1931, in Fayette County to Rufus and Wilma Skelton.  She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Parkview Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Frederick Phillips; her parents; her first husband, William Manley Phillips; her second husband, A. B. Cannon; two brothers, Willard Skelton and L. B. Skelton; and two sisters, Zelna Westbrook and O. Z. McCoy.

She is survived by two sons, Felix Phillips (Myra) of Decatur, and Holden Phillips (Janet) of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Sean Phillips (Cindy) and Andrea Phillips, both of Greenville, SC, Lindsey Olinger (Luke) of Chesapeake, VA, and Dr. Nia Phillips (Shawne) of Charlottetown, PEI, Canada; four great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the building fund of Parkview Baptist Church.
