Jason Hood, 45, of Russellville, went where the good guys go on November 9, 2018, because cancer sucks.
Jason lived life to the fullest and was known for his bright smile, contagious positivity and his colorful fashion sense.
He was the son of Sharon Hood and had three children, Kayla, Kain and Kaylee. He married his best friend Molli under the old oak tree in 2015 and spent the rest of his life showing her the meaning of true love.
Jason was a journeyman electrician of IBEW Local Union 558. He enjoyed building, breaking and fixing things and was always busy with multiple projects. You rarely saw him without his trusty companion, his little dog Gypsy.
Jason was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in June of 2016, and his friends will always remember the grace and humor he maintained throughout his journey. You would often find him outside wielding a chainsaw or working on his latest project while wearing a chemo pump.
Our family would like to thank the NW Alabama Cancer Center, Dr. Elizabeth Lindsey and Jason Henderson, Dr. Sree Suryadevara and staff, our Avalon Medical Center family, our beloved nurse Ruby, and the amazing doctors and nurses of 11 North at Vanderbilt. We also want to thank our incredible village who have wrapped us in love and who have stood by us during this difficult time.
Jason was an international donut model, a chicken father, and all around magical human being. This world is a brighter place because of him.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville. The service will immediately follow.
