Jarvis Kight Wilson, Jr., 85, passed away Monday morning. He was born on October 26, 1930 to Jarvis Kight Wilson and Cora Nobles Wilson in the small farming community of Old Trap, North Carolina. He joined the army at 18 years of age and shortly thereafter was stationed in the American-occupied zone of Vienna, Austria, where he met his life’s love, Betty Wilson.
Jarvis dedicated over half of his life in service to his country, 30 years in the Army and 20 years as a Department of the Army civilian. He was a proud member of the Mason’s.
A family-man to the core, he leaves behind his wife Berta “Betty” Wilson; his children, Jeffrey Kight Wilson and Malicia Karen Walters; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Kight Wilson, Jr., Jessica Diane Wilson, and Kelly Walters Bowman; and his great-grandson, Jeffrey Kight Wilson, III.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the service immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be in the family plot in Old Trap, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jarvis’ memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Comfort Care Hospice, LLC.
