Janie Lucille Heupel Simpson, 81, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 12, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Tuscumbia Church of Christ. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Jeff Abrams officiating. Entombment will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence.
Janie was a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Janie had a sweet and kind spirit and was a friend to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Gary Simpson; brothers, Jerry Heupel, David Heupel, and Troy Heupel; and infant sister, Virginia Ruth Heupel.
Janie is survived by her children, Johnny Simpson (Suzanne), Florence, Danny Simpson (Michelle), Tuscumbia, Mark Simpson (Kandi), Killen, and Misty Campbell (Wesley), Muscle Shoals; brother, Alan Heupel, Russellville; sisters, Martha Hovater, Russellville, and Doris Kershaw, Killen; grandchildren, Savannah Hogan (Taylor), Harvest, AL, Taylor Harbin (Cole), Killen, Mason Simpson (Selena), Killen, Ann Ross Simpson, Birmingham, Olivia Crocker (Seth), Florence, Christian Campbell, Muscle Shoals, Meredith Simpson, Tuscumbia, Garyson Campbell, Muscle Shoals, and Sophie Simpson, Florence; and great-grandchildren, Riley Harbin and Nora Hogan.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
The family offers special thanks to Kristy Smith , Kathy Hardeman, Mandy Hollaway, Elisha Davis, JoAnn Emory, Angie Elkins, and Ellie Serna for assisting in Janie’s daily care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
