Janie Dykes – Obituary

Mrs. Janie Dykes, 84, died at home on September 10, 2013. She was born October 1, 1928, in Houston County, Georgia, to Reid Yarbrough and Marian Culverhouse Yarbrough. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in PTA, Cub Scouts, Christian Women’s Club, and other community organizations. She was a member of Central United Methodist in Decatur for over 30 years. She loved travelling and antiquing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey B. Dykes Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Dale D. Moore, son-in-law, Stanley, and grandchildren, Sean, Melissa, and Caitlin of Decatur, and her son, Dewey B. Dykes III, daughter-in-law, Sharon, and grandchildren, Dewey, Danielle, and Lee and two great-grandchildren, James and Kendyl, all of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She has one brother, Henry W. Taylor Jr. and sister-in-law, Betsy, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and sisters, Rebecca Cloud, and brother-in-law, Frank, Laura Wheat, and brother-in-law, Josh, both of Buckhead, Georgia, and Grace Klouda of Ft. Valley, Georgia, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be on Friday, September 13, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be held in Sandy Springs, Georgia, the following day. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Janie’s name to Hospice of the Valley.
