Mrs. Janie Catherine Risner, 96, of Florence, died Monday morning in her sleep, August 29, 2016 at the home of her son, Jimmy Risner. She was a member of Petersville Church of Christ. She was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother, good-natured, patient, loving, giving, happy and kind. She maintained an extensive social network through the church, the Zip City Community Center and her neighbors and her family. She worked for Infants and Children’s Clinic until her retirement. She loved to cook and work in her yard.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Greenview Funeral Home from 6:00 -9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Sonny Owens and Adam Richardson officitating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Janie Mitchell; brothers, Vermont Walters, Ed, J.D. and John Mitchell; sister, Minnie Moore and grandson, Noah Risner.
Survivors include her sons, Reed Risner (Mildred) and James Risner (Karen); brothers, William “Bill” Mitchell(Barbara) and Mason Mitchell; sister, Lena Beatenbough (James) ; grandchildren, Richie and Josh Risner, Emily Duffin, Robin Montgomery and January Deaton; great-grandchildren, Maranda, Emma and Brayton Risner, Andrew and Ryan Montgomery and Matthew and Jack Duffin; 8 Great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Braydon Risner, Matthew Duffin, Terry Oakley, Cecil Myrick, Jim Goldy and Cole Harbin.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Poncho Rivera, Dale Cain, Bob Parks, Ryan Montgomery and Andrew Montgomery.
Serving as junior pallbearers will be Carson Harbin and Jack Duffin.
