It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Simon Parker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left us on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the age of 81.
Born on October 14, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, Janice was a hairdresser for 53 years, touching the lives of all that knew her. She was a precious soul who devoted her life to God and raising her family. She truly was a Proverbs 31 woman, serving and giving to her family over the years. “Let my health be in my soul, my achievements be for your kingdom, my acceptance be at your table, and my riches be treasures in heaven.”
She is preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Emily Simon, brother Dan Simon, and grandchildren Danielle and Simon Goode. She is survived by her husband, Doug Parker, daughter Angie (Phillip) Jhin, son Tony (Emily) Jones, brother Charles (Wanda) Simon, and sister-in-law Joan Simon. She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren, Chase (Lindsey) Goode, Caitlin (Thomas) Hibbett, Piper (Jackson Symanski) Barker, Daylan Jhin, Braden (Audra Davis) Jhin, Courtney (Reece) Howell, and Jake (Brianna) Jones. She was also the proud great-grandmother of 7 great-grandchildren, Harper, Henley, and Holden Goode, Collier and Graham Hibbett, Collins and Libby Howell, and soon-to-be Della Rae Symanski.
A private family memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 25th at 10:30 am at Greenview Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (www.afsp.org) in honor of her grandson, Sergeant Simon Goode.
Janice will be deeply missed, but her spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. “There are special people in our lives who never leave us…even after they are gone.”
