Janice McGriffA Celebration of Life visitation will be held for Mrs. Janice McGriff on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. McGriff of Decatur passed away Tuesday evening November 25, 2025 at Riverside Extended Living at the age of 83.

She was born to John Earl and Ruby Aline Eaton McDonald on March 18, 1942 in Jefferson County, Alabama. She was a graduate of West End High School. After she married she and her family moved to the Decatur/Hartselle area in 1968. She was an active member along with her children at West Hartselle Baptist Church for many years and sang in the choir. Her children are still active there today. She was deeply and joyfully involved in all of her children and grandchildren’s sporting activities, from grammar school to high school. She also operated the Band Boosters concession stand with her dad “Papa Mac”. At her death, she was a member of Decatur Baptist Church. While she was able to attend, she again served as a choir member. She also worked on a project putting together religious material into pamphlets written in many languages. These were then sent out into other countries. She talked to her daughters everyday and prepared meals for them on a regular basis. Janice was their confidant and strength. Her husband Harry, was a loving and caring husband. They met when she was working at Parisian and were married for 16 years. He was a constant source of comfort to her during her battle with her disease. He kept her home until he could no longer manage.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gordon (Corky) Pridmore, and a daughter, Stephanie.

She is survived by her husband, Harry E. McGriff of Decatur; daughters, Susan Pridmore, of Hartselle, Carol (Forrest) Hitt of Hartselle, and Mary (Jason) Rupe of Holly Pond; Sister, Judy Youngblood of Decatur; grandchildren Lauren (Alex) Holt, Joseph (Juanita) Martin, Zoe Hitt, Damien (Sydney) Hitt, Jordan (Jagory) White, Seth Young, Sophie Rupe, Audrey Rupe and Ella Rupe; great grandchildren, Craig, Xander, Connor Noah and Lily.

A special thank you to Riverside personnel Mary, Diane, Bridgett, Jaqueline, Susan, Rachel and Ethal. Also, to Hospice of the Valley and LeighAnn, Carol, and Penny.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to West Hartselle Baptist Church.
