Janice Marie Clem Simmons  Janice Marie Clem Simmons , 77, of Athens, passed from this life on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Simmons was born January 28, 1948, in Athens to Willis (Bill) and Annie Bell Clem. Friends and family are invited to gather to pay their respects at the visitation for Mrs. Simmons on Monday, December 15th, 2025, from 5:00-8:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, December 16th, at the funeral home, with Steve Klein officiating. A graveside service at Limestone Memorial Gardens will be held Friday, Dec ember 19th, at 10:00am.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Willis and Annie Bell Clem.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Wayne Simmons; three sons, Brian (Ginger) Simmons, Brent (Emily) Simmons, and Brandon (Brandy) Simmons all of Athens; brothers Dwight (Barbara) Clem, Deryl (Lynell) Clem, and Timothy (Delonnie) Clem all of Athens; seven grandchildren, Jake (Suzanne) Simmons, Jared (Audrey) Simmons, Annie Simmons, Addison Simmons, Cooper Simmons, Ally James Simmons, and Darcy Simmons all of Athens; one great grandson, Rawlings Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jake Simmons, Jared Simmons, Cooper Simmons, Garret Green, Neal Flaherty, and Mark Brock.

Mrs. Simmons devoted her life to God, family, and service to others. She was always filled with love in her service as a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her greatest joy was to be on the go with her family and close friends. She was affectionately known as Ma by her grandchildren and all their friends – she made everyone feel as though they were part of her family. Her family will cherish her memory and the joy she brought to every family gathering, her presence at every milestone and ball game, and the love felt by every hug shared and person she met.
