Janice G. Baker, age 79 of Scottsboro, formerly of Franklin County, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Janice was born on December 24, 1946, in Winchester, to the late James Ira Coulson and Geneva Champion Gipson. She was a twenty plus year associate with Walmart and worked in Winchester and Scottsboro stores. Janice enjoyed traveling to the Smokie Mountains and watching her favorite Westerns. She treasured the time spent with family and made sure they never left hungry. Janice will be remembered for her full of life spirit and her unforgettable jokes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Coulson, Stevie Coulson, Phyllis Van Gorder, and Randy Gipson. Janice is survived by her loving husband of sixty three years, Bobby Baker; children, Roy (Wanda) Baker and Carl Baker; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Mitchell, C.J. Baker, and Amber (T.J.) Edmonds; great-grandchildren, Brylon Mitchell and Allyanne Edmonds; siblings, Donald (Hughlene) Coulson, Wayne Coulson, Diane (Stanley) Hill, Bobby (Cat) Coulson, Patty Shetters, Terry Gipson, Rhonda (Kenny) Sherrill; loving sister-in-law, Diane Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Cowan Montgomery Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
