Funeral service for Janice Fowler Kemp age 77 of Hartselle will be Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 1:00pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walter Blackman officiating with burial in the Burningtree Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kemp, who was born at her home in Cullman County on July 14, 1939 to Artis Marvin Fowler and Susie Leona Shaddix Fowler, died peacefully at home, in her sleep on Saturday, June 24, 2017
She was a 1957 graduate of Eva High School and a 1958 Graduate of Alverson-Draughon Business College. During her working career, she worked at Mack Truck, Inc., Parker Accounting and retired from Dencraft Furniture as office manager. She was a member of the East Highland Baptist Church, a past member of the Hartselle Band Boosters and headed up the “Fowler Reunions” for many years during the 80’s. Janice loved to play the piano and had a beautiful Alto voice. One of her favorite memories was taking swimming classes at the Hartselle pool with her good friend, Ann Ballew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter; Karen Kemp Brakefield, and by all of her siblings; Alton Fowler, Letha Smallwood, Velma Winters, Clois Murphee, Ella Mae Hyatt, Olen Fowler and Nadine Mason.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years; William Thomas Kemp, a son; William David Kemp, a daughter; Beth Kemp Benson and four grandchildren; T.J. Brakefield, Rebekah Benson, Sarah Benson and Josh Benson.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that Memorials be made to the East Highland Baptist Church “Building Fund”.
