Janice Dianne Davis, “Sister”, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Nanny), sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born in Huntsville, AL, to Maudie Spear and Lawrence Mahathey, Dianne was a gentle soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Dianne was married to the love of her life, Billy “Tex” Davis, for 54 years. Together, they built a life full of love and devotion until Tex’s passing in 2019. They cared deeply for one another, and their bond was a shining example of true partnership.

She was a proud mother to Bobby Joe Davis, born on February 27, 1974. Bobby and his wife, Sarah, blessed her with two cherished grandchildren. She loved being Nanny to Ashlyn Grace and Matthew Ryan, whom she adored deeply. She was a devoted sister and sister-in-law to Danny Mahathey, Gail Lamb (Donnie), Mary Gothard, and Kimberly Greenway (Dan); brother-in-law, Jimmy Davis; and sister-in-law, Beverly Donawho. She is also survived by her stepmother, Helen Mahathey.

Sister had a zest for life and was especially fond of dancing and listening to country music. She found joy in being surrounded by her family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. She also had a special love for angels, finding comfort and beauty in their presence. Always one to show her vibrant spirit, she took great pride in keeping her nails perfectly manicured, favoring a bright red that reflected her lively personality. After many years of dedicated service, she retired from DRS, where lifelong friendships were made and left a lasting impact.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Sister’s many nieces and nephews, who selflessly gave up their summers and school breaks to help care for her during her time of need. Your unwavering love and dedication brought immense comfort to her and will forever be appreciated.

A special thank you is also extended to the Amedysis staff, including Jamie, Stacey, Latoya, and Lakedra, for their compassionate care. Additionally, the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Crystal for her loving care and support during this difficult time.

Dianne leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and the love she shared will be forever remembered.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will follow in the chapel with the Rev. Eric Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
