Janice Ann Smith, 61, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday. A passionate teacher for 40 years, she was the recipient of multiple Teacher of the Year Awards at Central School and Owens Cross Roads. She was also a runner-up recipient of Teacher of the Year for the Madison County School system. Mrs. Smith was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Smith; children, Donald Lea Smith, Jr, and Britney Ann Smith; brother, Kenneth Blanton Smith; and grandchildren, Luke Ryan Pulliam, Ethan Walker Smith, Emery Tait Smith and Reid Hudson Smith.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus. The funeral service will follow at the church with Dr. Jimmy Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. (www.laughlinservice.com)
