Our loving Mother, Janette McCafferty Lamar Sanders, passed away at the age of 84, on Monday, May 8th, 2023, at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born on October 28th, 1938, in Athens, to Leonard Beatrice McCafferty and Lula Mae Watkins McCafferty.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her children Karen L. Carter (Randall), Jeffery W. Lamar (Tammy), Terry L. Lamar (Cathy), and Richard Dwayne Lamar (Kristi); grandchildren Benjamin Carter, Heather E. Haden, Jacob Lamar, Emily Powers, Sean Lamar, Ryan Lamar, Trent Lamar, Kenlie Thornton, Christian Thornton, Emma Lamar, and Jeri Lynn Baker, and Lauren Newton; great-grandchildren Kayla Griffin, Payton James, Chayse Carter, Owen Haden, Arianna Haden, Ada Lamar, Lydia Lamar, Gracelyn Powers, Liam Powers, Ansley Lamar, Maverick Lamar, Daulton Lamar, and Jaliegh Messer; great-great-grandchild Raylan James; and sister Sarah Eggler (Eddie).
She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard Beatrice and Lula Mae McCafferty; husbands Daulton Lavoy Lamar, Elmer Gladden, and James Sanders; sisters Christine Calvert, Mauveline Campbell, and Kathleen Schurlock; brothers James McCafferty, H.B. McCafferty, and Robert McCafferty; father and mother-in-law Johnny and Betty Lamar.
Janette was married to Daulton Lavoy Lamar for 39 years before he went to be with the Lord Jesus. Then, Elmer Gladden was a part of her life for a short period of time. Later, in life, James Sanders was a sweet husband until his passing. Janette was a loving wife and mother, as well as a master seamstress and gardener. She could sew anything from a boy’s shirt or pants to a wedding dress. She dearly loved her all children. Before she died, she asked the question, “But what are the little children going to do without me?” She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sanders will be Saturday, May 13th, 2023, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 1100am – 1:45pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.
