Janet Sue Haycox  Janet Sue Haycox, 83, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022. She was born on April 24th, 1939, to Thomas S. and Stella M. Booker.

Mrs. Haycox grew up on a farm in Fredericksburg, IN. At twenty-one years of age, she married the love of her life, John Paul Haycox, on May 28th, 1960. The following day they moved to Illinois where they raised their family for fifty-five years. In 2015, Janet and John moved to Athens, AL to be closer to family. Family was everything to Janet. Over the years Janet found joy in her daily activities around the house, caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, participating in a bowling league, playing dice and card games, traveling, doing puzzles, hosting annual family Christmas parties, and going on evening walks with her family.

Mrs. Haycox is survived by her daughters Robin Smith (Steve) of Athens, AL, and Carolyn Allred (Greg) of Harvest, AL; granddaughters Megan Brousseau (Daniel) of Sunburst, MT, and Kaitlin Spry (Blake) of Elkmont, AL; grandsons Ryan Smith of Athens, AL and Tanner Russell of Athens, AL; great-grandchildren Addisyn and Sawyer Spry of Elkmont, AL, and Everly Brousseau of Sunburst, MT; step-grandchildren Victoria Allred (Skyler) of Harvest, AL, Gregory Allred (Madison) of Harvest, AL, Madaline Allred (Aaron) of Athens, AL, Samuel Allred of Tampa, FL, Alexander Allred (Lydia) of Mobile, AL, and Kathryn Allred (Elijah) of Tallahassee, FL; step-great-grandchildren Emory McLin of Harvest, AL, Kaine and Capri McWilliams of Athens, AL, Aria Henry and Niko Allred of Mobile, AL, and Jordan Yeboah of Tallahassee, FL; sisters Mary McDonald (Roger) of New Albany, IN, Faye Nelson of New Albany, IN, and Brenda Nichols of Edinburgh, IN; and sisters-in-law Sharon Booker of New Albany, IN, Charlotte Bye (Glenn) of Wilmington, IL and Janet M Haycox of Philadelphia, TN.

Mrs. Haycox is proceeded in death by her parents; husband John Haycox; daughter Terry Haycox; grandson Nolan Russell; sisters Jean Dennie, Margaret Harmon, Frankie Renfro, Bonita Wright, Charlotte Pickett, and Judy Murphy; brothers Alan Booker and Dennis Booker; six half-sisters; and one half-brother.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6th, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with C. W. Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Gatlin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Allred, Tanner Russell, Ryan Smith, Blake Spry, Daniel Brousseau, and Steve Smith.
