Janet Gaynor Lax Sealand
Mrs. Sealand, age 91, of Middleburg, departed this life on Saturday night, December 4, 2021, at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.
A life-long resident of Middleburg, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest and Mary Alice Owens Lax. She was united in marriage to Mr. Frank Nelson Sealand, Sr. on November 22, 1947 and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2011. Other family members who have passed away include her son, Frank Nelson Sealand, Jr.; a sister, Wallie Sisco; three brothers, Joseph, James Franklin and Ralph Lax; and a granddaughter, Diane Watkins Cross.
Mrs. Sealand was a homemaker and, for many years, owned and operated Sealand’s Grocery in Hickory Valley with her husband. A very active member of Middleburg Baptist Church, she enjoyed activities with the kids of the church especially providing refreshments for VBS. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
She leaves two daughters, Patricia Sealand Parker (Keith) of Oxford, MS and Linda Lax Watkins (Wayne) of Bolivar; a son, Darrell Mercer (Julie) of Toone; four grandchildren, Katie Griffin, Lori Anne Sealand, Tracey Howell and Michelle Cox; and five great-grandchildren.
