Janet F (Falconbury) Canady
March 17, 1943 ~ March 19, 2024 (age 81)

Janet (or Susie as all family members called her), was born March 17, 1943
in Lexington KY. She passed away on March 19, 2024. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Edmond and Mabel Falconbury and brothers Bill
and Bob Falconbury. She is survived by her husband, Roger, her sister,
Joyce (and Doug) Eagan, and nieces and nephews: Eddie (and Pauline)
Falconbury, Rhonda Gaskin, Tina Billions, Jadenna (and Paul) Hart, Shawn
(and Oksana) Falconbury, and Nikki (and R.J.) Mertz. She has many great
and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends and neighbors that
will all miss the Susie they knew for so long.
While she never had her own children, she loved all of her nieces and
nephews and babysat them all as they grew up. Each of them have their own
special memories of time spent with their Aunt Susie.
She graduated from Butler High School in 1961 and earned a BA at UAH in
Criminal Justice. Her career life was as a Security Specialist for the Army at
Redstone Arsenal and also the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Throughout
her career she was recognized with many awards for her outstanding
performance. She loved her job and gave it her all. In later years, she was a
caregiver to both her parents and Roger’s parents. She had a great love for
her many fur babies — a lifetime of too many indoor cats to count and also
several dogs in the house that all loved her back for sure. She was a
volunteer at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society and The Ark (no kill pet
shelter).
One childhood memory from her sister: We shared a bed growing up for
many years. We had a nightly ritual — whoever first said “close the closet
door and turn out the light” the other one had to do it. The one with the
chore would put one foot on the end of the bed as they turned off the light
and jump into bed so the monster under the bed couldn’t grab their leg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Ark or your favorite
charity.
