Janet Conley Christian of Huntsville passed away Friday. August 1, 2014. Mrs. Christian was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Austin Christian. Janet was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville.
Her survivors include her children; Laura (Paul) Christian Cotter of Fairhope, Lisa (John) Christian Howell of Huntsville, Lisbeth (Sheppard) Jane Jones of Nashville, grandchildren Austin Max Croft, Paul Christian Cotter, Anna Laura Cotter, John Wesley Howell, Ferris Fitts Jones, and Lucie Jane Jones.
Janet was a member of the Alabama Dental Auxiliary, the Huntsville Museum of Art, the Huntsville Symphony Guild, a past president of the Carillon Club, and the winner of the Virginia Hammill Simms Award.
Janet was devoted to her family, church, and community. When she wasn’t hosting family and friends at “Duck Point” on Roseberry Creek, she was devoting her time and resources to the various charities and organizations that were dedicated to improving Huntsville.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 5th, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM with Reverend Coy Hall officiating. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Wednesday, August 6th at 11:00 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
