Janet Brakefield, 77, of Empire, went to be with her heavenly father on June 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Janet was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked 45 years for Birmingham Trunk and devoted the rest of her time to her boys.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Brakefield, son Larry Brakefield, Mother Mildred Thomas, Father Jeff (Lois Jean) Phillips, sister Nancy Cooper, brother Ralph Jetton and grandparents Big Dad and Momma Pearl Roberts.
Janet leaves behind a son Roger (Kelly) Brakefield, grandchildren Ashley Tallman, Jackie Brakefield, Victoria (Tori) Brakefield, Skyler (Samantha) Herald, Kelli Herald, Matthew (Kayla) Herald, and Michael (Carly) Shedd. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren Jaydon (Natalie), Michael, Carson, Juliaunna, Lillian, Xander, Jaylen, Journey, Quest, Legend, Venture, Mya, Kaydence, Gracie, Karley, Brantley, Jase, Nevaeh, Grayson, Anna, Waylon, Annamae, Kohen and Miley, sisters Anita (Paul) Rhodes, Regina (Gene) Robertson, Charlei Ann (Eldon) Vines, brothers Jeff (Carleen) Phillips, Tim (Steph) Phillips and Frankie (Lynn) Jetton, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, June 14 at New Horizon Chapel with Rev. Bobby Shedd officiating. Burial will follow in Shanghi Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Shedd, Matthew Herald, Skyler Herald, Levon Phillips, Timmy Phillips, Gene Robertson and Frenkie Jetton.
