Jane Ray Smith, age 76 of Houston, passed away February 12, 2025 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on November 12, 1948, to Elmer and Iris Chambers. Jane enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her animals. Nothing could compare, however, to the love she had for her family. No services are planned at this time. Jane is survived by her sons, Jackie (Cathy) Smith, and Tommy (Beth) Smith; grandchildren, Tosha Young, Savannah Smith, and Kason Young; sister, Nell Berry; son-in-law, O’dell Young; cousin, Dianne (Earl) Estill; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Smith; daughter, Janet Lee Young; grandson, Jeremy O’dell Young; mother, Iris Lane Chambers; father, Elmer Chambers; brothers, Felton Fred Chambers “Frog,” Grady O’neal Chambers, and Johnnie Lee Chambers; and sisters, Eleanor Chambers Hood, and Sue Arrington.
