Jane Moore Jane Moore, 85, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on May 6, 2021 with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Clarence and Ferne Pomerenke on September 4, 1935 in Wenona, Illinois. Jane graduated from Wenona High School in 1953 and received a BA in in Journalism and Sociology from the University of Illinois in 1957. She was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and stayed connected with her “sisters” throughout her life.

She married the late Richard Moore in 1958, and called Dallas TX, Sarasota FL, Santa Fe, NM, and Huntsville her home. Jane is survived by two children, Susan Glenn (Walter) of Huntsville, and Paul Moore (Donna) of Sarasota; her grandchildren, Catherine, Liam, Jonathan, and Maya; her sister, Jan Bunkenburg (Bruce); her nieces and grandnieces; and several cousins.

Jane was an especially forward thinker, an avid reader, and a lifelong swimmer. She became the first female manager of a Sears in the early 70’s and later became a social worker, real estate agent, a small business owner, and retired from GE in Huntsville. She was even a card-carrying Sheriff’s Deputy! Jane’s outspoken nature, quick wit, and warm smile made her a pleasurable and engaging companion. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories. We will miss her very much.

A remembrance celebration will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 2 to 3 p.m. at her home. A private burial service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Jane would insist that people make donations in support of WLRH public radio or the Friends of the Library in her memory, in lieu of sending flowers.
