Jane Goolsby Vice Wright Jane Goolsby Vice Wright, beloved Mother, Nana, teacher and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, at the Hospice Family Care in-patient facility, surrounded by her family.

Born in Fairfield, Alabama to Martha and Dalton Goolsby, she attended school in Hueytown, Alabama, where she graduated in 1960. She attended the University of Alabama and graduated in 1962.

Jane married her “forever” boyfriend, James Winston Wright Jr., on December 30, 1960. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in December. “Mrs. Wright” was a teacher at Butler High School, North Alabama College of Commerce and completed her teaching career at Grissom High School. She was known as not only an outstanding teacher but was a favorite among her many students over the years. She leaves a legacy of many students who have honored her memory with many comforting acts of kindness for her family.

Nana’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She delighted in attending their many activities, baseball and other sporting events, dance competitions and recitals and other school activities.

Jane was an active member of Whitesburg Baptist Church, until her illness, where she taught youth Sunday School and served on church committees.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Louie Dalton Goolsby and Martha Lee Goolsby Cain, and stepfathers, John Walker Vice and Orville O. Cain, and brother James Orville Cain.

Leaving to cherish and honor her memory are son, Kevin Richard Wright; daughter, Karen Diane Wright (Michael Rose); grandchildren, Daniel Alan Wright, Ashley Elizabeth Wright and David Richard Wright; brother, Jon Earl Vice (Teri); and several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus Fellowship Hall with the Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Dr. Jimmy Jackson will officiate the burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.
