Mrs. Jane B. Patterson, age 89, of Florence, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 with her children by her side.
Mrs. Patterson was born in Tuscumbia and graduated from Deshler High School. She then attended Florence State Teacher’s College where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. She began her career with TVA as a secretary and, contrary to the times, she advanced to Tributary Area Development Representative, a position she held until her retirement in 1988.
Mrs. Patterson was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Florence where she had been a member of the Mary Douglass Bender Sunday school class. Her sweet smile and loving demeanor were examples of her dedication to her family. She enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball.
The visitation will be Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Greenview Memorial Park with the Rev. Sam Hardie III officiating.
She is survived by her a daughter Nancy Patterson Pugh (Charles) of Erie, CO; sons Joe Patterson (Peggy) of Florence, and Mitch Patterson (Sherry) of Gulf Shores; grandchildren Stacy Patterson, Kelly Trahan, Margo Patterson, Carol Bishop, Terry Franklin, Elizabeth Patterson, Sarah Jane Patterson, Matthew Patterson, Rachel Pugh, Daniel Pugh and Christine Pugh; eight great-grandchildren; a sister Louise B. Carpenter of Florence.
Pallbearers will be Matt Patterson, Dan Pugh, Bryce Bishop, Paul Trahan, Will Bishop and Ty Cox.
