Jana Leigh Bacchus passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 61.

Jana, known affectionately as “Jana Goose”, “Jana B”, or “Shortcake”, delighted in giving her own unique nicknames to family and friends. She was happiest when playing Uno, working puzzles, snacking on M&M’s and Coca-Cola, watching Wheel of Fortune and Little House on the Prairie, singing along (loudly) to John Denver songs, and putting a dollar in the offering plate at church. She took great pride in her work at the ARC McKemy Center and receiving her weekly paycheck.

She is survived by her parents, David and Sandra Bacchus; brother, Mark Bacchus; sister, Paula Vickrey; nieces, Laura Bacchus, Rachel Bacchus-Bell (Jake), and Amy Vickrey; nephew, Ben Vickrey (Meredith); and aunt, Sherry Miller. Jana was loved by everyone whose life she touched.

Our lives are forever changed by having known and loved Jana, and by her love for us. We are comforted by the assurance that she is now in the healing arms of her Savior. We will always be grateful for the abounding support from the community of friends who sustained us during difficult times.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jana’s name to the Communicating Love ministry at Rivertree Church, dedicated to sharing life with those with special needs and to their families, (Rivertree Church Special Needs Ministry, 652 Taylor Rd, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763, https://myrivertree.org), or to Trinity United Methodist Church (607 Airport Rd, Huntsville, AL 35802 https://www.trinityhsv.org/).
