Mr. James William “Jimmy” Griggs, 67, died Monday, June 24, 2019. He was born September 25, 1951 in Booneville, MS, to James L.R. Griggs and Earlene Justice Griggs Tranum. He was patriotic serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. Jimmy was self-employed as a carpenter for many years. He was a loving father, grandfather, son and brother.
A service with military honors will be at 4 PM, Friday, June 28, 2019 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with private burial in Kirkville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 PM to service time. Condolences to the family may be posted at hollandfuneraldirectors.com.
Survivors include Jimmy’s mother, Earlene Tranum of Tupelo; 2 sons, James Bradley (Alice) of Mooreville and Scott William (Ciji) of Iuka; 3 sisters, JoAnn Griggs, Carolene Franklin, and Sue Ellen Poirier; 4 grandchildren, James Colton, Peyton Michael, Austin Scott, and Albanie Faith, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Timothy Griggs.
