James Wenfred “Went” Gunter, 88 of Double Springs, passed away March 30, 2023 at his residence.
Went was born January 18, 1935 in Winston County, Alabama. He was a member of Pleasant Hill No. 2 Baptist Church in Double Springs for 50 years,
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 10am until 12pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where the service will be at 12pm. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill No. 2 Church Cemetery in Ashridge.
Went is survived by his sister, Jeanette Knox; brothers, Frank Gunter, and Wayne (Judy) Gunter; nephews, Michel Gunter, Robert Gunter, Keith Knox, Bryan Knox and Byron Barton; and nieces, Frankie Hall and Tammy McCleese.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Barton Gunter; parents, Johnie and Rosie Cagle Gunter; brother-in-law, Thurman Knox; and sisters-in-law, Irene Gunter and Linda Gunter.
