James “Verdell” Davis, age 94, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on March 28, 2025, at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home.
Verdell proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as an active-duty soldier. After his service, he worked for many years at Stockham Valve and Fitting, where he eventually retired. He was especially proud of his bowling and was known for his skill on the lanes, having achieved several 300 perfect games throughout his life. Verdell continued to bowl regularly until just a couple of years ago, a hobby that brought him great joy and camaraderie. Verdell also had a deep love and joy for Cadillacs. He enjoyed tinkering on the cars and took pride in keeping them running smoothly and looking sharp.
He is survived by his son, Allen (Kelli) Davis; grandchild, Tyler (Jennifer) Davis; and great-grandchildren, Will Skinner, Emma Davis, Joseph Hyde, Ryan Davis, and Eli Hyde. He is also survived by his sister, Mozell Williams and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Verdell was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Davis; mother, Ophelia Davis; granddaughter, Brittany Skinner; and sister, Lovell Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, with Phillip Williams officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery.
Verdell’s legacy of service and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
