James Tyler “J.T.” Lowery

Funeral service for James Tyler “J.T.” Lowery, age 87, of Trinity, will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Lowery and Bro. Ronald Davis officiating.  His family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Caddo Cemetery.

Mr. Lowery, who died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his residence, was born December 31, 1936, in Alabama to Tyler David Lowery and Wilma Ruth Standridge Lowery Worden (Earl).  He was preceded in death by his wife, Corine “Co-Co” Ready Lowery; son, James Lowery; parents; and brother, Eugene Lowery (Alliamae).  J.T. was a devoted member of Caddo Congregational Christian Church.  A veteran of the U. S. Army (1955 – 1959), he additionally served in the Army National Guard.  He was a retired steel fabricator who also served as pastor for the Congregational Christian Church.  J.T. was a man of many talents who was always most happy when using them to help others.

He is survived by two sons, Laron Parker (Angi) and Sidney Parker; three daughters, Darlene Bowers (Chris), Sheila Patterson Sutton (Tony), and Jeannette Hale; seven grandchildren, Sondra Barnes (Tony), Jacob Bowers (Lori), Josh Patterson, Terri Knoblock (Derrick), Candi Watson (Coty), Aaron Parker, and Crystal Strickland; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Levi Barnes, Noah Barnes, Tony Barnes, Josh Patterson, Derrick Knoblock, and Jacob Bowers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Brock, Brody Knoblock, Zane Brock, and Ray Hill.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley (240 Johnston Street, S.E., Decatur, AL 35601)
