The funeral for James Thomas McCulloch Jr., age 98, will be Monday Feb 22, 2016, at Elliot Brown Funeral Home, Moulton, at 12:30 pm. Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. O.D. Bowling will conduct the service. The graveside service in Moulton Memory Gardens conducted by Dr. Jesse Reeder will follow. Pallbearers will be Luke McCulloch, Blake Mitchell, Bob Frank Smith, Tommy Wayne McCullough, Byron Owens, and Randy Crocker.
Mr. McCulloch died Saturday, Feb 20, at National Health Care Center of Moulton. He was born on Aug. 2, 1917, to James Thomas McCulloch Sr. and Pearl Howell McCulloch. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by Price McCulloch (brother), Howell McCullough (brother), Iola McCulloch Sparks (sister), Anna Rose Jacobs McCulloch in 1945 (first wife), Nancy Elizabeth McCulloch in 1962 (infant daughter). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nellie Dell Armor McCulloch; daughter, Marie McCulloch Mitchell (husband Jim), daughter, Nell McCulloch; son Dr. Harvey McCulloch (wife Cathy). Surviving grandchildren include Libby Mitchell Smith (Bob Frank), Blake Mitchell (Irene), Mary Catherine Crocker (Randy), Thomas Luke McCulloch, Margaret McCulloch. He is survived by seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mr. McCulloch was a graduate of LCHS class of 1937. He joined Price McCulloch in McCulloch Furniture and Appliance Company which operated in Moulton on the square for 66 years. He was a former member of the Moulton Lion’s Club and the Moulton Businessmen’s Organization. He was a lifelong member of Moulton Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent to Moulton Baptist Church, Moulton Church of Christ, or the food pantry at either church.
