F.5.1.19 Tommy Johnston.jpgJames Thomas Johnston, Jr., age 71, of Killen, passed away April 28, 2019. Visitation will be Thursday, May 2nd from 4 to 6 p.m. at Faith Church of Florence. A celebration of his life will follow at 6 p.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Huskey and Brother Ted “Sonny” Vafeas officiating.

Tommy was a graduate of Coffee High School, Florence State and Samford Universities. He was a registered pharmacist and moved to Collinwood, TN in 1974, where he operated Collinwood Drugs for 45 years. He loved his employees and the entire Collinwood community, and was an announcer for Collinwood football. In 1995, he moved his family to Killen to live on the lake.

Tommy loved fishing and was an avid fan of Atlanta Braves baseball and Crimson Tide football. He loved his family dearly, especially any activities involving his grandchildren. He never missed any activity in which any of his grandchildren participated.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Corinne Mitchell Johnston. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Ann Rohling Johnston; sons, Bill Johnston (Tara), Blake Johnston (Kacy) and Blair Johnston (Heather); grandchildren, Dylan, Lindsey Beth, Annalee, Braxton, Owen, Ella and Eli; granddog, Birdie; sisters, Connie Butler (Lionel) and Beth McRight (Tom); and special friends, David Frye (Nancy)and Donnie Barrier (Shelia).

Special attendants will be the Shoals Thunder Baseball Team and their coaches. The family would like to express their appreciation to Kindred Hospice, especially Kristy Roberts, for their loving care.
