Preparation

Touched by the Holy Spirit, Russell recognized his need for a savior. He accepted Jesus as the Lord of his life at an early age, and joined Acklin C.M.E. Church. He later rededicated his life to the Lord and joined union hills CPC a church under the pastorage of elder McKinley Jones where he remained a faithful member. He was a member of the brotherhood choir, where they traveled throughout the area singing praises to our God.

Russell grew up on a farm learning to cultivate in Berkeley, Alabama. He educated in the Madison County, Alabama school system. He completed Berkeley Junior High School and Council Training Senior High School in Norma, Alabama.

Russell was united in holy matrimony with Christina Tutt. Through 64 wonderful years of marriage, they were blessed with five children. They had a home that was loving, stable, and secure.

He began his working career at Redstone Arsenal. He was a hard dedicated worker who did the best job he could – “as working under the Lord”. Russell worked tirelessly at Sears Roebuck, General Hydraulics, Barber Coleman, and ended his career at Alabama Concrete when his health began to decline. Mr. Collier loved his family, friends, and neighbors. Always doing his part to help someone in need, gave him purpose and fulfillment. Russell enjoyed the pleasantries of traveling, baseball, joking, and laughing.

Victory

His building kept on growing and just the other day his soul had to move. “For we know that if our earthly house of this Tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.” (2 Corithian 5:1)
