James Robert Allen, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. He found joy in the simple things and cherished what was closest to his heart. James loved hunting, fishing, and the peace of the outdoors. His faith in God was the foundation of his life, and he enjoyed singing and worshiping at church. When he wasn’t outside or at church, he could often be found working on bicycles. He loved his family deeply and lived a life rooted in faith and dedication to the passions he treasured most.
He is survived by his brother, John Allen; his daughters, Stephanie Edwards (Rusty) and Susan Permenter; his son, Mark Allen (Sherry); eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Allen; his mother, Charlotte Allen; his sister, Bobbie Nell Allen; his wife of 32 years, Joyce Allen; his wife of 30 years, Lola Allen; and his two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Edwards and Jeremiah Robinson.
Funeral services are set for 1 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at West Pontotoc Pentecostal Church in Pontotoc, with Bro. Glenn Dendy and Bro. Clint Long officiating. Visitation will start at 11 AM and continue until the service begins, followed by burial at West Heights Cemetery.
