Funeral services for Mr. James Rickie Lang, age 67, of Arab, Alabama will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Ridgeway Cemetery. Brother Randy Blakely, Brother Kenneth Putnam and Brother Gene Blackmon will be officiating. The family will receive friends and guests for a visitation time at the Arab Chapel from 1:00 to 3:00 prior to the service.
Rickie passed away Sunday morning, February 2, 2025 at Marshall Medical Center South. Rickie was born in Marshall County, AL on August 14, 1957. His parents were James Edward Lang and Wilma Jean Chaney Lang. He was married to Sylvia Anne Nations Lang, who preceded him in death (10/12/2023). Rickie worked for and retired from the City of Arab where he worked for the street department. He was a lifelong resident of Arab and a member of the Joppa Methodist Church.
Until his health slowed him down, Ricky enjoyed an active life. He enjoyed bass fishing with his fishing buddies, Kevin and Buddy. He raised rabbit hunting beagles and with his grandchildren, T.J and Chop, spent many hours chasing rabbits. In his younger years he and his wife, Sylvia spent many hours either riding motorcycles or bowling. He and daughter, Lindsey, shared a special relationship aggravating, teasing and picking at each other all in a loving manner. Ricky will be missed by all.
Rickie was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Lang; parents, James and Wilma Lang; son, James Rickey Lang, Jr.; brothers, Jerry Lang, Bobby Joe Lang and Ronnie Lang; sisters, Gail Holmes, Shirley Mote, and Tammy Lang.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Wilson, Daughter, Lindsey Walker (Kevin); grandchildren, T.J. Turney (Michaela Bohy) and Logan “Chop” Walker; sisters, Debbie Blackmon (Charlie) and Lynn Alexander (Mark); niece, Hannah Ervin (Joseph) and nephew, Billy Miller (Kayla).
Serving as pallbearers are T.J. Turney, Logan Walker, Billy Miller, Kevin Walker, Taylor Blakely, Hunter Blakely, Buddy Blakely and Tyler Daniel.
