The graveside service for Mr. James Richard Britt, age 72 of Ashland, will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashland with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating.

 

Mr. Britt passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 at his home. He lived most of his life in Clay County, graduating from Clay County High School and attended Jacksonville State University. He served in the US Army before becoming a meat cutter and later worked many years at Ace Products here in Lineville. He was also a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

 

Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Dianne Britt of Ashland; son, James R. Britt Jr. and wife Pam of Ashland; granddaughter, Ashley Britt of Ashland; great-grandson, Dominic Jones ,step daughter Lisa Ellen Kermick(spouse Gerry) step grandchildren Ellen, Maegan and Matthew, step great granddaughter Roselyn,  5 sister-in-laws and spouses, 1 brother in-law and spouse all reside in Tennessee, many nieces and nephews and several other extended family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents: William James Britt and Annie Lou Connelle Britt, sister, Mary Carolyn Heath, Richard’s first wife Betty Diane Britt and mother-in-law Mary Ellen Potts Howell of Tennessee.

 

Mr. Britt’s pallbearers will be Wayne Bain, Billy White, Jason Walker, Roger Willbanks, Dean Morrrison, Phil Dodd, Mark Dodd and Elgin Rowell.

 

Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
