James Reeves “J.R.” Crane, aged 87, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, died on December 9, 2024, at Cornerstone Health and Rehab in Corinth. James served four years in the United States Army, spending part of his service in Germany. He was an electrician that proudly contributed to the construction of the Tenn-Tom Waterway while working at Southern WellPoint and was a longtime member of Burgess Creek Freewill Baptist Church. James enjoyed fishing, tinkering, and fixing lawnmowers in his free time. Most of all, however, he loved his grandchildren and cherished every moment he got with them. James is survived by his beloved wife, Hildred Louise Crane; his daughter, Kimberly Johnson; his grandchildren, James Douglas Crane and Ashley Johnson; his siblings, Betty Ann Ervin (Milton) and Eudell Crane (Dott); and his brother-in-law; Harold Wayne Turner (Joan). He was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie and Eugene Crane; and his brothers, Radfred Lee Crane (Cathy) and baby Crane. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Nathaniel Bullard. Pallbearers include Greg Crane, Randy Turner, Roy Bates, Robert Deaton, Justin Waddle, and Shannon Moncrief. Honorary pallbearers include Terry Mack Whitehead and Dennis Durham. Interment will be in Tishomingo Cemetery. Memorials may be made in James’ honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
