white_james_raymondMr. James Raymond White, age 80, of Beaverton, Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 21st, 2012, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 23rd, 2012, at Norwood Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama. Funeral service, 3:00 p.m. following visitation, at the funeral home.  Services were concluded at West Alabama Memorial Gardens (formerly Marion County Memorial Gardens), where a short service was held and Taps played for a Soldier Gone Home.  Bro. Roger Redus and Bro. Venlon Bradford officiating.   Pallbearers, Jack Mixon, Basil Mixon, Gerald Hughes, Glenn Hughes, Greg Peoples, and Sam Peoples.

Raymond was born May 8th, 1932, in Lamar County, Alabama to the late Floyd and Cora Carrouth White.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War.  When his tour was up in the service, Raymond came back to Hamilton in Marion County, Alabama where he and his sweetheart Martha Ann Webb were married September 14th, 1956.  He worked for a time at Ogden’s store in Sulligent, Alabama, then acquired a job at 3M in Guin, Alabama where he was a member of the 3M Club and worked until he retired as a Supervisor.  He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and he was a long-standing member of the Mt. Hebron Methodist Church in his hometown of Beaverton, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Webb White, Beaverton, AL.; 1 son, Charles Raymond (Sheri) White, Winfield, AL.; 1 daughter, Melanie Susan White (Jim) Hughes, Pelham, AL.; 3 sisters, Beatrice White Peoples (Eugene) Reeves, Guin, AL., Martha White (Agee) McReynolds, Vernon, AL., and Verla White (and the late Willie) Stephenson of Aberdeen, MS.; 4 grandchildren, Christopher White, Adam White, David Hughes, and Katie Hughes; also 3 sisters-in-law, Bernice Webb Mills, Peggy Webb King, and Judy Webb Mays (Don Gann); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Cora Carrouth White; 1 sister, Lottie Mae White; an infant brother; and 4 brothers-in-law, Willie Stephenson, Gary Wayne Mays, Jr., Guy H. Mills, and J.C. King .
